
As part of Alexandria University’s commitment to enhancing national awareness and strengthening the concepts of national security among its students, and under the patronage of Professor Dr. Abdel Aziz Konsowa, President of the University, the Popular and Military Defense Forces organized an awareness lecture hosted by the Faculty of Nursing, entitled “Regional Challenges and Their Impact on National Security.”

The lecture was delivered by Major General (Staff) Dr. Bahgat Mohamed Farid, former Director of the National Defense College at Nasser Military Academy, who reviewed the fundamental concepts of national security and its political, economic, and social dimensions. He highlighted the extent to which Egyptian national security is affected by current regional and international challenges and developments.
The speaker emphasized the importance of raising youth awareness of the nature of the challenges facing the Egyptian state and the necessity of building an enlightened and well-informed generation capable of understanding risks and dealing with them. He also pointed to the vital role played by educational institutions in preparing generations capable of protecting the nation’s resources and safeguarding its national security.

For her part, Dr. Hanan El-Sherbiny, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, affirmed the faculty’s keenness to support and organize awareness activities that contribute to building students’ personalities both academically and nationally. She noted that spreading awareness of national security issues is an integral part of the university’s community role in preparing generations capable of assuming responsibility and serving the nation.
In this context, Colonel Mohamed Maher, Director of the Military Education Department, explained that organizing such events comes within the framework of the strategy of the Popular and Military Defense Forces aimed at enhancing national awareness among university students and acquainting them with the realities of the challenges facing Egyptian national security, stressing that youth awareness represents the first line of defense for the homeland.
The lecture witnessed notable interaction from students, as the floor was opened for discussion and questions, which contributed to enriching the dialogue and clarifying many concepts related to national security, as well as the role of individuals and society in supporting and preserving it.
