Inauguration of the 23rd Engineering Forum for Business and Careers 2025 at the Faculty of Engineering
Under the auspices of Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, Dr. Saeed Allam, Vice President for Community Service and Development, and Dr. Ali Abdel Mohsen, Acting Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, inaugurated the 23rd Engineering Forum for Business and Careers 2025. The event was attended by Dr. Walid Abdel Azim, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering; Dr. Essam Wahba, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research; Dr. Wael El-Maghlani, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs; Dr. Dina Saadallah, Director of Career Development Centers at Alexandria University; Dr. Mustafa El-Hadary, Secretary-General of the Alexandria Engineers Syndicate; and a host of members of the House of Representatives and Senate, faculty members, and heads of company and student councils.
In his speech, Dr. Saeed Allam emphasized that the 23rd Employment Forum is an important event that reflects the university's commitment to serving the community, developing the capabilities of its students, and preparing them to become future leaders. He added that Alexandria University is adopting an ambitious strategy to prepare distinguished graduates equipped with the necessary knowledge, skills, and education. He added that the university is committed to strengthening cooperation between the university and the industrial sector and providing opportunities that enable students and graduates to enter the job market with confidence and competence. He pointed out that the forum is an ideal platform for achieving these goals, especially as it brings together leading companies and prestigious institutions on the one hand, and students and graduates on the other. It is an opportunity to exchange experiences, discover available job opportunities, and build strong relationships between the university and the industrial sector. Dr. Saeed Allam thanked all the companies and institutions that participated in this forum, as their participation reflects their commitment to their social responsibilities and their support for development efforts in the surrounding community. Dr. Saeed Allam emphasized the importance of students making the most of this opportunity, communicating effectively with company representatives, and exploring all available options.
Dr. Walid Abdel Azim emphasized that organizing the forum comes within the framework of Alexandria University's initiatives aimed at supporting the training and employment of its students and graduates, in continuation of the pioneering educational, research and professional role that the university aspires to play in supporting the comprehensive development of the Egyptian people. He pointed out that the forum aims to enhance compatibility and integration between academic research and industrial requirements, as it witnesses the participation of an elite group of major companies operating in various engineering fields. He added that the Faculty of Engineering at Alexandria University, with its distinguished expertise and strong capabilities, is one of the basic pillars in supporting major national projects, not only at the level of Alexandria Governorate, but also at the level of the entire republic. The faculty also plays an effective role in cooperating with the private sector, which in turn is a major driver of development. He added that this forum is one of the vital bridges of cooperation between the Faculty of Engineering and the national industry in its comprehensive concept, as it allows for a close understanding of the challenges facing the labor market, which contributes to achieving harmony between the educational process and the needs of the production and service sectors and helps link educational outcomes to the labor market and society. He pointed out that the presence of major companies within the Faculty of Engineering reflects the great confidence in the graduates of the faculty, which is constantly being developed to keep pace with changes. The accelerating changes in the labor market, including digital transformation, the technological revolution, and the changing nature of jobs, emphasized that the forum includes 40 companies and institutions representing various sectors, including construction, industry, and services, offering real job and training opportunities.
Dr. Wael Al-Maghlani noted that the employment forum is witnessing a great turnout from students and graduates, especially since it includes a large group of major companies in various engineering and information technology disciplines, which are a basic requirement in the age of technology. He emphasized that the College of Engineering is not limited to development and qualification in the educational aspect alone, but also focuses on training and linking courses to the technological and industrial community. He noted that the College of Engineering is committed to linking academia with industry through the Engineering Center, which serves as a link between the college and industry and serves as a consulting center for all engineering disciplines. He added that the college holds eight-week summer courses for students as a prerequisite for graduation, linking the outcomes of the educational process with industry.
Dr. Dina Saadallah emphasized that the forum aims to provide an environment that brings together companies, students, and graduates seeking job opportunities in the business and employment sectors. The forum provides an opportunity for students to submit their resumes and participate in on-the-spot interviews with representatives of major companies participating in the forum. She thanked the participating companies and institutions for being part of the event's success, and for their tangible efforts in recruiting and qualifying students and graduates.
Dr. Mostafa El-Hadary added that the Engineers Syndicate's participation stems from its belief in its role in serving engineers. He emphasized that the Alexandria Engineers Syndicate has adopted the "Training Young Engineers" initiative to develop the skills of students and graduates through specialized courses in all engineering fields. The Syndicate has trained more than 10,000 students and engineers, and these courses have become part of the graduation requirements for students in the Faculty of Engineering.
Supreme Council of Universities Basic Sciences Sector Committee Holds its Meeting at Faculty of Science
Dr. Hesham Saeed, Vice President of Alexandria University for Graduate Studies and Research, received this morning, on behalf of Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of the University, the Basic Sciences Sector Committee of the Supreme Council of Universities, headed by Dr. Essam Khamis, Chairman of the Basic Sciences Sector Committee, at the headquarters of the Faculty of Science in Muharram Bek, in the presence of Dr. Elhamy Tarabis, President of Damanhour University, Dr. Moawad El-Kholy, President of New Mansoura University, Dr. Sherine Khattab, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Science, Dr. Mohamed Ismail, former President of Matrouh University, Dr. Mukhtar Youssef, former Vice President of Alexandria University, and Dr. Ahmed Younis, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Science for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Mohamed El-Sayed Othman, Secretary of the Basic Sciences Sector Committee, in addition to the deans and representatives of the sector’s faculties in Egyptian universities, as well as members of the committee.
During the meeting, Dr. Hesham Saeed welcomed the committee to Alexandria University, stressing the university’s keenness to provide all support to the faculties of the basic sciences sector to carry out their educational and research role, hoping that the meeting would come up with meaningful recommendations to serve the educational system in Egyptian universities.
Center of Excellence for Water Organizes Introductory Meeting on Centers of Excellence for Agriculture and Water Project
Under the auspices of Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, the Center of Excellence for Water at Alexandria University organized an introductory meeting on the Centers of Excellence for Agriculture and Water Project, funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), at the center's headquarters in the Faculty of Engineering, Alexandria University, with the participation of the center's administrative and executive team at Alexandria University and the project's executive team at the American University in Cairo.
The meeting began with opening remarks by Dr. Essam Wahba, Executive Director of the Center of Excellence for Water at Alexandria University, Dr. Essam Shaaban, Director of the Centers of Excellence for Agriculture and Water Project at the American University in Cairo, Dr. Dina El-Gayar, Deputy Executive Director of the Center at Alexandria University, and Dr. Hind Marzouk, Coordinator of Agricultural Activities at the Center at Alexandria University. The meeting was attended by Dr. Mohamed Bahey El-Din, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture at Shatby, Dr. Ahmed Abdel Fattah Mahmoud, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture at Saba Pasha, in addition to a group of professors and faculty members from the Faculties of Agriculture at Alexandria University and representatives from the private agricultural sector in Alexandria Governorate.
During the meeting, the project of the Centers of Excellence for Agriculture and Water and its strategic objectives were introduced, and presentations were given on the various activities provided by the center in the scientific research sector, the exchange, training and scholarships sector, and the educational innovation and curriculum development sector. The door was opened for dialogue and discussions with a group of experts and researchers to exchange experiences and knowledge.
Graduation of New Class of Executive Master's (EMBA) Students at Faculty of Business
Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, attended the graduation ceremony of a new class of Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) students on Sunday evening, June 1, 2025. The ceremony was attended by Dr. Ayman Sheteiwy, Dean of the Faculty of Business; Dr. Saeed Abdelaziz, former Governor of Sharkia and former Dean of the Faculty of Business; Dr. Farid El-Sahn, Executive Director of the Professional Graduate Studies Unit at the Faculty of Business; Engineer Wael Lotfy, Chairman and Managing Director of Engineering for the Petroleum and Process Industries Company (ENPPI); Major General Hazem Badr El-Din, Assistant Commander of the Northern Military Region; in addition to a group of academic and industrial leaders, members of the House of Representatives and the Senate, and faculty members from the Faculty of Business.
In his speech, Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of the University, expressed his pleasure at participating in this celebration, emphasizing the role of the Executive MBA Program in graduating business leaders and decision-makers who keep pace with the demands of a rapidly changing labour market. He praised the graduates' commitment and dedication to balancing their professional and academic responsibilities, urging them to continue developing themselves and learning new things in their fields of specialization. The President of the University emphasized Alexandria University's commitment to offering advanced academic programs that meet international standards and the needs of the labour market both inside and outside Egypt. He explained that the university currently offers up to 80 double and joint degrees with highly ranked international universities, enhancing the university's vision for local, regional, and global competitiveness.
For his part, Dr. Ayman Sheteiwy, Dean of the Faculty of Business, expressed his pleasure at the graduation of 186 students from the Executive Master's Program. He emphasized the faculty’s role in offering academic programs that keep pace with labour market demands, noting the introduction of joint and dual degrees with prestigious American, British, and French international universities. He emphasized that the graduates should be a proud representative of their faculty, acting as its ambassadors in the workplace.
Engineer Wael Lotfy, Chairman and Managing Director of ENPPI, emphasized that the ceremony embodies the connection between the academic and industrial communities, noting that cooperation with the university began in 2019. Mr. Lotfy emphasized the importance of continuous education and practical application, emphasizing that we are in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, which relies on artificial intelligence. However, he emphasized that the human element remains the common and fundamental factor in all industrial developments.
In her speech, Dr. Omnia Yaqout, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research at the Faculty of Business, emphasized that the celebration represents the culmination of boundless ambition and the challenges that have been overcome. She explained that the professional master's degree is a fundamental requirement in a rapidly changing world, urging graduates to use education as an effective tool for change in their new phase. She added that the Executive MBA Program in Business Administration and Accounting works to support strong companies among major economic entities with global universities such as George Washington University and the University of Georgia in the United States.
Inauguration of Alexandria University Faculty of Medicine conference on Centres of Excellence between Present and Future
Under the auspices of Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, Dr. Ali Abdelmohsen, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Acting Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, inaugurated the activities of the conference organized by the Faculty of Medicine under the title “Centres of Excellence at Alexandria Faculty of Medicine between the Present and the Future,” with the aim of Introducing the centres of excellence located at the Faculty of Medicine, Alexandria University, and highlighting the educational, research, therapeutic, and training services provided by these centres.
The conference witnessed the presence of Dr. Iman Youssef, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Tamer Abdallah, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, Dr. Essam Bedeiwi, Executive Director of University Hospitals, and a group of faculty members, doctors, civil society representatives, and members of the People’s Assembly and the Shura Council.
In his speech, Dr. Ali Abdelmohsen thanked the civil society organizations for their unlimited support for Alexandria University Hospitals, noting that the conference this year has a special nature, especially since it discusses the role of the centres of excellence located in the faculty and their vital role in all therapeutic, research and training fields. Dr. Abdelmohsen pointed out that the Faculty of Medicine began establishing centres of excellence to provide distinguished medical service to the Egyptian citizens, stressing that there is a centre of excellence for heart valve implantation via catheter, which is a major medical breakthrough in university hospitals at Alexandria University, and which was established in cooperation with civil society organizations and thanks to the great efforts and cooperation among the faculty members.
Dr. Abdelmohsen also pointed out that Alexandria University Hospitals will participate in the International Conference on Health Tourism, which will be held under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, which will contribute to advancing the development process and the Egyptian economy, stressing that Alexandria University Hospitals are working in accordance with the Egyptian state’s strategy to provide medical services to individuals whether in Egypt or abroad, especially after the tremendous development witnessed recently by university hospitals at Alexandria University.
Dr. Tamer Abdallah stressed that civil society is an essential partner in all development processes witnessed by at Alexandria University hospitals. He pointed out that the role of civil society organizations was clear and evident during the previous years through their effective participation, which was reflected positively on the development of the educational and health system whether on the local level in general and the city of Alexandria in particular.
Dr. Abdallah also pointed out that the idea of establishing centres of excellence is to address the problems facing society, and he added that the Faculty of Medicine has many centres of excellence such as the Clinical Research Centre, the Medical Research Centre, the Regenerative Medicine Centre, and the Therapeutic Blood Bank Research Centre, and at the therapeutic level there is the Heart Centre in Smouha, the Children's Ophthalmology Clinic, the Alexandria Poison Centre, the Stroke Centre, and the Brain Catheterization Centre. He added that the conference looks forward to discussing the possibility of establishing other centres of excellence at the Faculty of Medicine and the university hospitals to provide distinguished medical services to citizens in cooperation with civil society organizations, such as establishing an integrated centre for brain, nerve, and spine surgeries, an integrated centre for obesity diseases, a specialized centre for sports injuries, and a post-accidents rehabilitation centre.
While Dr. Iman Youssef confirmed that the education and student sector is currently considered a centre of excellence due to the great and tremendous development that the sector is currently witnessing, as the university is graduating students who are able to compete in the local, regional and international labour markets. She stressed that the education and student sector at the Faculty of Medicine will witness a boom during the coming months, through developing all laboratories and expanding educational facilities and patient rooms, as well as increasing the number of students coming to study at the Faculty of Medicine, Alexandria University because of the distinguished medical reputation that the faculty enjoys.
Dr. Essam Bedeiwi also stressed that the conference reflects the great cooperation between civil society and Alexandria University hospitals, pointing out the necessity of fruitful investment in university hospitals and that everyone must cooperate in order to reduce the pressure on the Egyptian state, through developing the hospitals’ own resources, and for all departments to cooperate to rationalize expenses as a form of complete integration between departments to achieve an integrated health system in the Alexandrian society.
