Dr. El Ghandour Inaugurates Annual International Conference of Internal Medicine Entitled "Integrative Medicine for the Department of Internal Medicine"

On the evening of Wednesday the 23rd of November, Dr. Ashraf El-Ghandour, Vice President of Alexandria University for Graduate Studies and Research, and the honorary president of the conference, witnessed the inauguration ceremony of the nineteenth annual conference of the Department of Internal Medicine in Alexandria, at the Great Hall of the Faculty of Medicine. The conference that is taking place on the 23rd and 24th of November, under the title "Integrative Medicine for the Department of Internal Medicine", will present the latest techniques and discoveries in disease prevention, treatment and emergency cases concerning internal medicine, haematology, diabetes, hepatology, gastroenterology, and rheumatism.
The opening session was attended by Dr. Ali Abdel Mohsen, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Ayman El Shayeb, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Dr. Tamer Abdallah, Executive Director of University Hospitals, Dr. Iman Youssef, Head of the Internal Medicine Department and Conference Chair, Dr. Ezzat Ali, Head of the Digestive System Unit, and Dr. Ahmed Zaid, Head of the Hepatology Unit, and a group of senior professors of internal medicine, international lecturers and students.
In his speech, Dr. Ashraf El-Ghandour stressed that Alexandria University is keen to support and motivate all scientific conferences that discuss and present all that is new in all disciplines related to the departments of internal diseases and haematology at the Faculty of Medicine, in a way that contributes to enriching the medical scene, in cooperation with the rest of the faculty’s departments, to achieve what is called “Integrative Medicine” to ensure a successful medical system at the university. Dr. El-Ghandour confirmed that he is proud to be a graduate of the Faculty of Medicine, Alexandria University, specifically the Department of Internal Medicine, as it is one of its oldest departments, that has achieved a qualitative leap in its various sub-specialties in internal and blood diseases. In addition, it includes a group of the greatest professors and great scientists who contributed to the graduation of qualified doctors who in turn took part in the advancement of medicine in Egypt and many Arab countries, and the improvement of health services provided to millions of patients over many years.
Dr. Iman Youssef confirmed that the conference was preceded by several research sessions and discussions at the premises of the Department of Internal Medicine on Tuesday the 22nd of November, with the participation of the department’s professors, graduate students and interns. Youssef confirmed that the conference hosts a group of senior professors of haematology, diabetes, hepatology, gastroenterology, and rheumatism, and international lecturers, to discuss integrative medicine between the 8 units of the Department of Internal Medicine and the rest of the clinical departments of the faculty, as well as to discuss the latest methods of diagnosis and treatment in internal diseases and haematology. The participants will also hold scientific sessions and important lectures to discuss the latest types of treatments and medicines, and to shed light on all that is new in the field, whether through presenting scientific research or through workshops that contribute to updating the information of all doctors and keeping abreast of all that is new in various medical specialties.
The launch of the third cultural season of the Institute of Mediterranean Studies at the Faculty of Arts

The Institute for Mediterranean Studies launched the activities of its third cultural season on the 29th of October, by holding a public symposium entitled “200 years of Egyptology: making historical documentaries” and showing the film “200 years of Egyptology”, which was produced by Egyptian television and shown in the Good Morning Egypt program on the occasion of the 200th anniversary On deciphering the Rosetta Stone. The Institute hosted Mr. Mustafa Kafafi, a media personality and a documentary film maker, to present and comment on the film.
Faculty of Specific Education, Alexandria University Wins 15 Prizes in Creativity Forum of Egyptian Universities

Under the auspices of Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, Dr. Wael Nabil Abdel Salam, Vice President of Alexandria University for Education and Student Affairs, honored today, faculty members and students of the Faculty of Specific Education who achieved advanced positions in the fourth “Ibdaa” forum for faculties of specific education, which was organized by Fayoum University during the period from February 5 to February 9, (340 students) from 10 Egyptian universities participated in it.

In his speech, the vice president of the university thanked the faculty for the outstanding level with which the delegation of Alexandria University appeared during their participation in the forum and won a number of advanced positions during the various artistic competitions.

Acting Dean of the Faculty of Specific Education, Dr. Baheya El-Akhreti, indicated that the aim of participating in the forum is to create a spirit of competition and communication between students at Egyptian universities, and to get acquainted with the students’ different creations in various artistic fields, stressing that the faculty spares no effort to support its students to bring out their creativity. The faculty won a number of advanced positions as follows:
* First Place Cup for Choir and Music
* Second Place Cup in Education Technology
* Third Place Cup in Domestic Economics
- In addition to several individual awards, as follows:
* First place for solo singing, student Yomna Hassan.
* First place for solo music performance, student Abdelrahman Hisham.
* First place in the field of documentary video won by the student Saif Abdelmoneim.
* Second place in the field of educational software was won by the student Hagar Hamdi Shaaban.
* Second place in the field of fashion design, won by the student Safeya Attia Selim.
* Third place in the field of crochet, and the award for excellence in the field of knitting for the students Maram Mohamed Shehata and Fatma Essam Mohamed El-Sayed.
**** In the Department of Art Education
* Second place in oil painting competition was won by the student Rawan Mohamed Zidan.
* Excellence Award in the field of ceramics, won by the student Abdelrahman Mohamed Idriss.







Faculty of Agriculture - El Shatby receives a delegation from the Faculty of Food Sciences, Southwest- China University

Under the auspices of Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, faculty of Agriculture in Shatby receives a delegation from China consisting of Dr. Du Muying and Dr. Jianquan Kan and Dr. Kewei Chen, within the framework of implementing the research project to discover and innovate functional strains of traditional fermented foods between China and Egypt.
During the visit, a meeting was held with the faculty administration, Dr. Muhammad Bahi El-Din, dean of the faculty, Dr. Heba Sabry Salama, the faculty’s dean for environmental affairs and community service, and Dr. Ahmed Mahdi, the faculty’s dean for education and student affairs. The meeting was attended by Dr. Sameh Awad, the main researcher for the project from the Egyptian side, and Dr. Amal Ahmed, the co-researcher.
The Chinese delegation also visited the Dairy Microbes and Cheese Research Laboratory, and the results obtained during the implementation of the research project in both sides (Egypt and China) were discussed, and the plan of action in the next stage, as well as the coordination of scientific publishing between the two sides.

Seminar on "Management, Sustainability and Strategic Planning of the Center of Excellence for Water” at Faculty of Engineering

Dr Ashraf El-Ghandour, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research Affairs, witnessed the activities of the symposium on “Management, Sustainability and Strategic Planning for the Centre of Excellence for Water at Alexandria University”, in the presence of Dr. Said Allam, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Essam Wahba, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering for Graduate Studies and Research and Executive Director of the Center, Dr. Walid Abdelazim, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering for Community Service and Environmental Development, Dr. Wael El-Meghlani, Acting Vice-Dean for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Dina El-Gayar, Deputy Director of the Project Management Unit at the University, and representatives of American and Egyptian universities participating in the center, as well as a group of faculty members, specialists and experts.

In his speech, Dr. Ashraf El-Ghandour stressed that the project of the Water Excellence Center at Alexandria University is working to find solutions to the expected water problems in light of population growth and the serious challenges we are currently facing. El-Ghandour expressed his hope that the workshop will come out with recommendations that contribute to achieving sustainability for the Water Excellence Center, which represents an expert house to provide practical solutions to all challenges related to the field of water in Egypt.

Dr. Said Allam indicated that the workshop discusses the strategic plan for the center, which works to support learning and applied research in the field of water, as well as work to address the most important challenges facing Egypt in sustainable water management.

While Dr. Essam Wahba confirmed that the workshop discusses the sustainability plan and the governance system of the center, which is concerned with studying the latest developments in the fields of science and scientific research and new uses of technology in the field of water, as well as providing consultations and training services in the field of water in line with the national strategy of the country’s sustainable development plan “Egypt Vision 2030”.
