Dr. Ahmed Wahban, Dean of the Faculty, indicated that the number of students winning the scholarship doubled this year compared to last year, as a result of the efforts and interest of Alexandria University in academic and research cooperation with international universities. He also thanked Dr. Noha Nagy, lecturer of economics and international cooperation officer at the faculty, for her efforts in preparing and qualifying the applicants for the scholarship fully funded by the Sawiris Foundation for Social Development, which is competed for by students from many Egyptian universities.

Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, congratulated the Faculty of Engineering team (EFFCT) for winning first place in the “Egypt Summit for Community Investment Projects” competition, launched by the Innovators and Talents Fund, in cooperation with the Hult Prize International Competition Authority. The competition involves student teams at different universities in Egypt, who have ideas and prototypes for community projects in the field of clothing and fashion, which can be turned into startups.

It is worth noting that the three winning teams will be promoted to participate in the regional competition, which is the penultimate stage of the final Hult Prize competition, which will be held in Paris next August, to compete for cash prizes of one million dollars, which will be awarded to the best team in the world that wins the competition, to enable the team to carry out their project.
 
 
The Hult Prize competition is the largest student competition in the world, with more than 100,000 students participating after holding qualifiers in more than 120 countries. It aims to develop imagination, creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship skills, in order to solve pressing social problems.
 
 
It is noteworthy that the Hult Prize competition is organized by the Hult Business International School, which is a private, non-profit international academic institution, with branches in the United States of America, England, the Emirates, and China. A group of the institute’s alumni have been organizing this annual competition for more than from 10 years.
The concept of the competition is based on the distinguished ideas presented by each team, which contribute to providing solutions to environmental problems, through the manufacture of environmentally friendly products that support environmental and social sustainability. The final national qualifiers of the competition, with prize value of 100,000 pounds, took place among 11 student teams, representing 10 Egyptian universities at the Innovation Centre (IHub) at Ain Shams University. The jury, which included a group of experts and specialists, determined the student teams that won the first three places.

Dr. Ahmed Wahban, Dean of the College, indicated that the exhibition includes various exhibits of clothes, handicrafts, and food products at reasonable prices, presented by about 40 exhibitors representing 40 commercial entities and civil society organizations, in addition to three representatives of producers of people of determination. The Dean of the College added that the exhibition serves the students of the College of Studies. Economic and political sciences, as well as students of the university campus, faculty members, administrators and support services.

Under the auspices of Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, the Institute of Graduate Studies and Research organized an educational seminar on Monday the 9th of October on the Glorious October War under the title “October Victory... Pride and Dignity,” as part of a series of activities and events organized by the university in celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the victories of the Glorious October War.

The seminar was delivered by Dr. Yousry El-Gamal, former Minister of Education and one of the heroes of the War of Attrition and the October War, Dr. chemist Mohamed Nour El-Din, one of the heroes of the military battle of Kabrit, and Dr. Sherif Qandil, a full-time professor in the Materials Sciences Department at the Institute and one of the heroes of the War of Attrition, in the presence of Dr. Hisham Saeed, Dean of the Institute of Graduate Studies and Research, and a large number of faculty members and students of the institute.
 
 
 
 
In his speech, Dr. Yousry El-Gamal affirmed his pride in participating in the celebrations of the fiftieth anniversary of the glorious October victories, which is an opportunity to commemorate the martyrs who sacrificed their blood for our homeland. He added that it is also an opportunity to restore memories of the 1967 war, then the war of attrition, and the rebuilding of the armed forces until reaching the victory of October 1973, pointing out that his role was in building the Air Defense Force and the missile wall, which had a profound impact on the Egyptian forces’ crossing of the Suez Canal.

Dr. Mohamed Nour El-Din pointed out the importance of the decision to rely on recruiting highly qualified graduates into the armed forces and expanding the use of technology and modern techniques in armament, stressing the role of the war of attrition as a necessary step to achieve the glorious October victory.
 
 
 
 
 
Dr. Sherif Qandil pointed out that the main reasons for the October victory were faith, will, education, and intensive training, praising the role of the Air Defense Force in protecting Egypt’s skies during the wars of attrition and the October wars.

Dr. Hisham Saeed expressed his pleasure at celebrating the anniversary of the glorious October War, which shattered the myth of the invincible army, as the Egyptian forces were able to cross the blockade of the Suez Canal and the impregnable Bar Lev Line, which proves that Egypt has a conscious people capable of doing the impossible and an army capable of confronting anyone who dares to harm our dear homeland.

Yesterday, Faculty of Nursing celebrated Orphan's Day, as it hosted 80 children from five orphanages in Alexandria.
Dr. Nefertiti Hassan, Dean of the faculty, indicated that this activity is a continuation of the activities of the "We Take Care of You" initiative and was organized by the community service and environmental development sector in the faculty in cooperation with the Department of Pediatric Nursing, the Department of Community Health, and the Students' Union under the supervision of the faculty Youth Welfare Department. She said that the day included entertainment activities. And seminars for health education on nutrition, health education on hygiene, and health education activities through puppet theatre. During the day, games were played and various gifts were given to children.
