Faculty of Nursing Organizes Awareness Seminar Entitled “Renewing Religious Discourse and Building Youth Awareness”

As part of Alexandria University’s commitment to promoting enlightened thought and fostering the values of tolerance and moderation among its students, and under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, the Faculty of Nursing organized an awareness seminar, entitled “Renewing Religious Discourse and Building Youth Awareness”, held at the faculty conference hall.
The seminar was attended by Prof. Dr. Hanan Hosny El-Sherbini, Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Sahar Mansour Lamada, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Dr. Lamiaa Khamees El-Shafie, University Student Activities Coordinator, along with faculty members and students.
The seminar was delivered by Sheikh Dr. Ibrahim El-Gammal, Director General of the Department of Preaching and Religious Media at Al-Azhar Al-Sharif in Alexandria. He discussed the concept and importance of renewing religious discourse to keep pace with contemporary changes while maintaining the core principles and values of Islam. He emphasized that renewal does not mean altering the essence of faith but rather developing the methods of religious communication to address societal needs and counter extremist ideologies.
In her speech, Prof. Dr. Hanan Hosny El-Sherbini welcomed the attendees, stressing that sound religious awareness is a cornerstone in building an enlightened university character. She affirmed the University’s keenness to instill values of moderation and national belonging among its students.
Prof. Dr. Sahar Mansour Lamada added that the Faculty continually seeks to integrate cultural and intellectual dimensions into the university education system, aiming to prepare a generation capable of engaging positively with national and societal issues.
Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Lamiaa Khamees El-Shafie explained that the seminar is part of Alexandria University’s strategy to build students’ awareness and promote enlightened thinking through various educational and voluntary activities organized throughout the academic year.
The event witnessed great interaction from students, who actively participated in discussions about the principles of moderation in Islam and the vital role of youth in building awareness and preserving the Egyptian identity.

American Heart Association Grants International Accreditation to Faculty of Nursing Training Unit

Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, congratulated the members of the Faculty of Nursing on the unconditional accreditation of the Faculty's Training Unit by the American Heart Association (AHA), with a grade of "Excellent," making it an officially accredited centre for providing specialized training programs in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and lifesaving.
The ceremony was attended by a team of representatives from the American Heart Association in the Middle East region, the dean, deputies, faculty members, and the unit's training coordinators.
For her part, Dr. Nefertiti Zaki, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing and Chairperson of the Training Unit's Board of Directors, indicated that this accreditation is the culmination of the university and faculty's efforts to support the continuing health education system and develop the capabilities of healthcare professionals in various specialties, as investing in human resources is one of the key pillars of improving healthcare services provided to citizens. She emphasized the role of the accredited training unit as a training platform at the local and international levels.

Popular and Military Defense Forces Discuss Current National Security Challenges at Alexandria University

As part of Alexandria University’s commitment to strengthening students’ national awareness, and under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of the University, the Faculty of Education hosted an educational lecture organized by the Popular and Military Defense Forces under the title “The Egyptian State’s Vision on the Challenges Facing National Security.” The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Hassan Abdeen, Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Salem Abdel Razek, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, faculty members, teaching assistants, and students of the faculty.
The lecture was delivered by Brigadier General Dr. Eng. Wael El-Abd, who highlighted the most pressing challenges facing Egypt’s national security, foremost among them the transboundary threats and their risks to the stability of the state. He stressed that addressing these challenges requires a comprehensive vision and integrated practical measures to enhance the state’s ability to safeguard its resources. He further outlined several key measures to confront such challenges, including: tightening border security, adopting a mindful approach to the repercussions of regional conflicts, monitoring the policies of major powers with expansionist tendencies, controlling migration flows, reinforcing development and asserting control over remote areas, raising public awareness to counter rumors and attempts to spread discontent, ensuring that every citizen holds a national ID card, in addition to continuously monitoring and analyzing local and international media trends.
In his remarks, Prof. Dr. Hassan Abdeen emphasized that such educational meetings contribute to raising students’ awareness of national issues and instilling in them a sense of belonging, enabling them to confront extremist ideologies and disinformation campaigns.
For his part, Colonel Mohamed Maher stated that the collaboration between the University and the Popular and Military Defense Forces seeks to build genuine awareness among students and connect them with national issues. He stressed that national security begins within universities, as they serve as beacons of knowledge and factories of future leaders.
The event concluded with a reaffirmation that safeguarding national security is a collective responsibility that requires societal awareness, institutional cooperation, and a spirit of teamwork to protect the homeland and secure its future.

Presidential Decree Appointing Dr. Doaa Eldardiri as Dean of the Faculty of Physical Education for Girls

Dr. Abdelaziz Konswa, President of Alexandria University, congratulated Dr. Doaa El Dardiri Abo Elhassan Salem on the occasion of the issuance of the presidential decree appointing her as Dean of the Faculty of Physical Education for Girls, wishing her success and continued efforts to raise the level of the Faculty, and stressing the provision of all support and assistance to her for her success in performing her mission.
