As part of Alexandria University's commitment to enhancing national awareness and fostering a sense of belonging among its students, and under the auspices of Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, the Popular and Military Defense Forces, represented by the Military Education Department in cooperation with the Faculty of Pharmacy, organized an educational lecture on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, entitled: "Regional Challenges and Their Impact on Egyptian National Security", delivered by Major General Dr. Bahgat Mohamed Farid.

The event was attended by Dr. Hanan El-Goweily, Dean of the Faculty, along with faculty vice deans, staff members, and a large group of students.

Major General Dr. Bahgat Mohamed Farid delivered a comprehensive analytical presentation highlighting the most pressing current regional challenges and their direct and indirect impacts on Egypt’s national security. He emphasized that societal awareness—especially among university youth—is the first line of defense against the threats posed by unconventional warfare. He noted that universities serve as beacons of enlightened thought capable of confronting such threats.

In her speech, Dr. Hanan El-Goweily stressed the importance of cultivating national awareness among students, pointing out that Egypt continuously faces challenges from forces aiming to undermine its stability. However, the awareness and loyalty of young people remain the strongest shield in confronting these challenges. She added that the university is no longer merely an educational institution, but has become a platform for shaping consciousness and building individuals capable of protecting the nation and positively engaging with societal issues.

Colonel Mohamed Maher, Director of the Military Education Department at Alexandria University, praised the role of the Faculty of Pharmacy in enhancing collaboration with the General Command of Military Education, contributing to the achievement of strategic national and patriotic awareness goals.

This event is part of a series of lectures and programs implemented by Alexandria University in cooperation with the Military Education Department, aimed at strengthening the values of national belonging and instilling the concept of national security among students, reflecting the leading role of Egyptian universities in serving national causes and building the human capacity of the nation.

As part of Alexandria University’s commitment to enhancing national awareness among its students, and under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Abdel Aziz Konsowa, President of the University, the Popular and Military Defense Forces, in cooperation with the Faculty of Economic Studies and Political Science, organized an educational lecture entitled “Regional Challenges and Their Impact on Egyptian National Security and Mechanisms of Confrontation.”

The lecture was delivered by Major General (Staff) Dr. Bahgat Mohamed Farid, former Director of the National Defense College, and was attended by faculty members and a large number of students.

During the lecture, Major General Dr. Bahgat Mohamed Farid presented a comprehensive analytical overview addressing the concepts of the state and national security, the risks of non-traditional warfare and fifth-generation wars, and the most prominent internal and external threats and their direct and indirect impacts on Egyptian national security, as well as mechanisms for confrontation and response. He emphasized that societal awareness—particularly among university youth—constitutes the first line of defense against these challenges, noting that universities represent a source of soft power and a beacon of enlightened thought capable of confronting current threats.

For her part, Dr. Marwa Khalil, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Economic Studies and Political Science for Education and Student Affairs, stressed the importance of building national awareness among students and benefiting from the expertise of national leaders. She affirmed that Egypt faces ongoing challenges from parties seeking to undermine its stability; however, the awareness of youth and their loyalty to the homeland remain the safety valve and the solid fortress against such challenges. She added that the role of the university has gone beyond academic education to include shaping awareness and building individuals capable of protecting their country and contributing positively to serving their community.

Colonel Mohamed Maher, Director of the Military Education Department at Alexandria University, also praised the active role of the Faculty of Economic Studies and Political Science in strengthening cooperation with the General Command of Military Education, in a manner that contributes to achieving the goals of national and patriotic awareness.

This event comes as part of a series of seminars and educational programs implemented by Alexandria University in cooperation with the Military Education Department, aimed at reinforcing the concepts of national security and instilling the values of belonging and national loyalty among students, reflecting the pioneering role of Egyptian universities in serving the nation and building the individual.

Under the auspicious of Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, the Faculty of Education organized its fifth employment forum yesterday, in the seminars and conferences hall at the faculty, and was held under the title "Teacher's Competencies and Employment Requirements in Schools in Alexandria Governorate".

Dr. Hassan Abdeen, Dean of the Faculty of Education, indicated that the forum was held with the aim of providing job opportunities for young graduates of the faculty, and providing opportunities for students to receive practical training; This is based on the faculty's keenness to follow up on its graduates, provide them with full support, achieve communication between the faculty, graduates and students, and prepare them for the labor market.
 
 
 
 
The forum was attended by the faculty's deputies, the directors of the Measurement and Evaluation Unit, the Educational Services Center, the Quality Assurance and Accreditation Unit, and the Professional Development Center at the faculty, as well as a group of faculty members, officials and representatives of private and international schools, and students and graduates of the faculty.

As part of Alexandria University’s celebrations marking the anniversary of the glorious October Victory, and under the auspices of Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of the University, Dr. Ahmed Abdel Hakim, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, inaugurated the educational seminar organized by the Faculty of Nursing under the title “The Battle of Awareness… Our Youth, Our Responsibility”, held at the college’s main conference hall.

The seminar was delivered by Major General (Staff) Dr. Eng. Hafez Hassan, former Assistant Minister of Trade and Industry and former Assistant Chief of Operations of the Armed Forces. Among the attendees were Dr. Hanan El-Sherbiny, Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Sahar Lamada, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, Dr. Awatef El-Sharkawy, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research, Dr. Lamia El-Shafei, University Coordinator of Voluntary Activities, along with a large number of faculty members and students.

In his speech, Dr. Ahmed Abdel Hakim emphasized Alexandria University’s keenness to instill the values of belonging and national awareness among its students by hosting prominent national figures capable of clarifying facts and enlightening youth about the challenges facing the nation. He noted that the spirit of the October Victory remains an everlasting lesson in the faith of Egyptians in their abilities, strategic planning, and determination to achieve victory despite all challenges.

During the seminar, Major General Hafez Hassan reviewed the various stages of the glorious October War — from the War of Attrition to the planning and preparation, the crossing of the Suez Canal, and the storming of the Bar Lev Line — leading to victory and the achievement of peace. He also addressed several key topics, including the reasons behind targeting Egypt, the importance of awareness of Egypt’s civilization and history, the role of human capital as a safeguard for the nation, and the dangers of rumors and fifth-generation warfare, emphasizing how awareness and knowledge are essential tools to confront them.

For her part, Dr. Hanan El-Sherbiny expressed her appreciation for the support provided by the University administration, led by Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, in organizing educational and awareness events. She stressed the importance of connecting the past with the present and drawing inspiration from the heroism of the October War to build the New Republic, highlighting that awareness and the investment in human potential are the true paths toward development and progress.

Meanwhile, Dr. Lamia El-Shafei noted that the University places great emphasis on developing students’ awareness through a series of educational seminars and cultural activities that host national figures and field experts to strengthen the spirit of loyalty and belonging among youth.

The seminar concluded with an open dialogue between Major General Hafez Hassan and the students, featuring rich discussions on the lessons of the October War and the current challenges facing the Egyptian state.

Under the auspices of Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, the Department of Educational Administration and Education Policies at the Faculty of Education organized the 4th Annual International Conference titled: "Talent Management in Educational Institutions: Leadership Strategies for Building Future Cadres". The event was held in Lecture Hall (1) at the Faculty, with the participation of Dr. Hassan Saad Abdeen, Dean of the Faculty; Dr. Mohamed Khamees Harb, Head of the Department of Educational Administration and Education Policies and Conference Chair; Dr. Salem Abdel Razek Suleiman, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; Dr. El-Sayeda Mahmoud Ibrahim, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research; Dr. Araby Abu Zeid, Director of the Alexandria Directorate of Education; Dr. Ibrahim El-Gammal, Member of the Egyptian Family House and Head of the Fatwa Committee at Al-Azhar in Alexandria; and Dr. Shaker Mohamed Fathy, President of the Egyptian Society for Comparative Education and Educational Administration, along with a distinguished group of faculty members from Egypt and various Arab countries.

In his speech, Dr. Hassan Saad Abdeen welcomed all participants and emphasized the importance of the conference as a scientific platform for the exchange of expertise and visions. He highlighted the conference’s active contribution to the development of the educational system at both the local and international levels, reflecting the pioneering role of the Faculty of Education – Alexandria University – in supporting dialogue around educational issues and in developing effective strategies for talent management, in line with Egypt’s efforts to invest in young minds and build a knowledge- and innovation-based future.

Dr. Araby Abu Zeid stated that the Faculty of Education is a key partner in preparing educational leaders capable of keeping pace with technological transformations, which enhances the efficiency of the educational system and its ability to meet the challenges of the times. He stressed that conscious leadership is the key to educational success and societal advancement.

For his part, Dr. Mohamed Khamees Harb noted that the continuity of the conference for four consecutive years reflects the department’s strong belief in the value of scientific dialogue and the exchange of experiences. It also demonstrates the department's commitment to actively contributing to the development of educational thought and practice in alignment with changes in the educational landscape. He expressed his gratitude to all who contributed to organizing this outstanding academic event, including researchers, participants, session chairs, and organizing committees.

The conference included a number of scientific sessions that addressed key issues in talent management and the development of educational leadership. It featured research papers and field experiences presented by researchers and experts in education and management.

At the conclusion of the conference, a set of recommendations was announced to support educational policies and promote a culture of innovation within educational institutions.

The conference concluded with honoring the organizing committee, emphasizing the importance of joint efforts for a brighter educational future.
